LED Landscape Lighting

A good portion of the lights you see outside have one thing in common: they’re most likely LED. And with good reason. LED lighting offers longer life, more efficient energy consumption, a friendlier eco footprint, low-voltage operation, plenty of flexibility, and so much more when compared to more “traditional” incandescent, halogen, or fluorescent lighting. Landscape lighting is no exception. As more and more families take pride in their landscaping, LED landscape lighting has become all the rage. Let’s take a look at the benefits!

Energy and Money Savings

As we mentioned, LED lighting uses low voltage, which means it uses significantly less electricity than other types of lighting. In fact, LED lights are up to 80 percent more energy-efficient than traditional lighting. Consider this: LED lights use 95 percent of their energy to produce light, which means that only 5 percent of the energy is wasted on heat; fluorescent lights, on the other hand, are a mirror image–they use 95 percent of their energy on heat and only 5 percent on light. This means that they are quite inefficient–and hot to the touch–while LEDs are generally cool to the touch. The efficiency of LED lighting can save you quite a bit on your energy bill each month, making them smart investments.

Unparalleled Beauty

LED landscape lighting is gorgeous. There’s simply no other way to say it. And there are so many ways and places it can be used–on walkways/pathways, up-lighting trees and shrubbery, pool lighting, gazebo/patio lighting, and so much more. Having a professionally installed LED landscape lighting system offers amazing curb appeal while enhancing the value of your home. If you want to be the envy of your neighborhood, LED landscape lighting is the way to go.

Safety and Security

In addition to their stunning beauty, LED landscape lights offer peace of mind. Strategically placed LED lights not only enhance the look of your home’s exterior, but they also provide plenty of light in areas you need it most to safely make your way around your deck, patio, entryways, and walkways. Plus, having a well-lit outdoor space can help deter would-be intruders by adding an extra layer of security to your home.

Long-Lasting Durability

LED lights are actually perfect for landscape lighting. Why? Because they can stand up to the elements such as high and low temperatures, vibration, and shock. Since LED lights are not enclosed in glass and do not use a filament or neon gas, they maintain their durability–another reason to invest in LED landscape lighting.

Versatility and Customization

One of the common complaints about early LED lighting was its bluish-white glow, which many people found to be cold and unappealing. However, today’s LEDs lights can provide the more comforting yellowish-white hue as halogen and incandescent lighting. Perhaps best of all, however, is the fact that many LED landscape lighting systems can be customized to your preferences.

For example, if you love the look of holiday-themed lighting but aren’t really a fan of putting it up and taking it down every season, you can get a new system installed that allows you to control the color of your landscape lighting! Want to display orange for Halloween, red for Valentine’s Day, red/white/blue for July 4th, and whichever colors you prefer for Christmas? It’s as easy as downloading an app and choosing your colors! The customizable options for LED lighting are unparalleled.

Environmentally Friendly

We already know that LEDs use less energy, which helps the environment, but they’re also made without toxic elements such as mercury and do not need to be specially recycled. And because they last longer than traditional lights, LEDs do not need to be purchased as often, creating less waste. In fact, some LEDs can last for a decade or more!

Pest-Free!

If you enjoy spending time outdoors basking in your landscape lighting on beautiful days, but insects and pests take away some of that enjoyment, LED lighting is for you! Summertime insects are drawn to UV light that is produced by halogen light bulbs, which have traditionally been a landscape lighting staple. LED lights, however, do not emit UV light, which means fewer pesky pests while you’re outside.
